End of week 7

This week we metal plated the trebuchet in order to add more torsion, and continuity tested the 25 pin moter controller data port in order to integrate a custom pcb for better wire management.

Blog week 7

This week we are planning on continuing to work with the trebuchet by adding tension, and metal plating to increase the launch distance.  We also hope to work on the car's regenerative braking system and hopefully organize the wireing a bit.

Blog Week 6 End

With this week rapping up, their was some high hopes for the Balista. Sadly these hopes were put to rest when we finally fired it a good 5 feet... So now we must take apart and re-design some key elements on the Balista so that we can try again soon.

blog week 6

This week we plan to continue with our respective projects, the trebuchet is built, and is now being tweaked for grater range. We are still waiting for the wire for the solar-car, but we plan to re-install the parts so as to expedite the process when the wire arrives.

As the week comes to an end, it seems as if this Balista is never going to fire. But hopefuly with some extra work over the weekend we can manage to reach are goals sooner then we think!

Blog Week 3 End



At the end of this 3rd week the group has put their minds together and was able to produce a proto-type sketch of the Ballista. Now that the sketch has been drawn up and measured we will be starting to measure and cut the real wood to make our dreams turn to reality.

Blog Week 3



At the start of this 3rd week our focus has been adjusted from the solar go-cart which is now completed, to the design and execution of the wooden Ballista. When completed we are hoping to be able to fire a baseball 300ft plus.

Blog Week 2 End

With Dylan's help we finished the Go-Kart, and are loading SK3 onto a trailer for transport to FAU to be displayed during the Formula-E race we will be competing in. We hope to do well, and it looks like it will be a lot of fun.

Blog Week 2

Dylan is cutting out the four sides of the battery box, and we expect it to be done by Wednesday. The paint job is looking awesome, and we hope to get the Go-Kart running by Friday.
